The Department of Campus Recreation at FAMU’s Hansel Tookes Student Recreation Center is dedicated to enhancing the university experience by providing a wide range of programs and services that promote health, wellness, fitness, and social engagement within the campus community. The center is open to current students, faculty, staff, and alumni, offering access to various facilities such as a grass soccer field and golf driving range. Through the FAMU “Come & Play” app, users can easily sign up for memberships, participate in intramural sports leagues, and explore rental opportunities for departments and the community.

Campus Recreation at FAMU prioritizes customer satisfaction by focusing on students first and collaborating with other departments to provide a holistic recreational experience. The center is primarily funded by Student A&S Funds and operated by FAMU students, offering employment opportunities, internships, and volunteer positions across different majors and areas of study. As an Institutional Member of NIRSA, the department aligns with a global network of higher education leaders dedicated to transforming lives and fostering healthy communities worldwide.

With a commitment to safety and inclusivity, the Hansel Tookes Student Recreation Center requires all student users to present a valid Rattler Card for access. While masks are expected, semester and annual memberships are available for faculty, staff, alumni, and retirees. The center does not currently offer memberships, guest passes, or day passes to individuals outside of these categories. By upholding high standards of service and engagement, Campus Recreation at FAMU continues to be a hub of activity and wellness for the university community.
