The Fitness and Recreation Center at The University of Tampa is a state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance the co-curricular experience of students and faculty. With a focus on fostering social interaction and building community, the center features high ceilings, open rooms, and ample natural light to create a welcoming environment. Offering a wide range of exercise programs, wellness evaluations, and nutrition services, the 130,000-square-foot facility is a one-stop shop for all fitness needs.
Equipped with six group exercise rooms, including an indoor cycling room, the fitness center provides a variety of workout options to cater to different preferences and fitness levels. Additionally, the center offers one-on-one training sessions with nationally certified personal trainers, ensuring personalized guidance and support for individuals seeking to achieve their fitness goals. With a diverse selection of Precor cardio machines, free weights, and strength training equipment, the center is well-equipped to accommodate the needs of students, faculty, and staff.
Phase II of the center’s development, completed in Spring 2022, expanded the workout and exercise space, added teaching and research facilities, an aquatic center, basketball and beach volleyball courts, and a functional training space. The Benson Alex Riseman Aquatic Center features a competition-sized pool, recreational pool, and hot tub, catering to both competitive swimmers and recreational users. With a focus on innovation and research, the center also houses a Human Performance Lab where students can conduct performance testing and research to further their understanding of health sciences and human performance.
