Detailed Information

Patton Recreation Center, located in District 6 of southwest Detroit, has been a cornerstone of the community since 1950. Originally established as a modest facility with a lobby, craft room, and restrooms, it quickly became known for its innovative indoor/outdoor community pool – the first of its kind in the nation. Situated on 80+ acres of parkland spanning Detroit and Dearborn, the center’s roots trace back to the Baubee family, the original French landowners in the area, before being renamed in 1946 to honor WWII US Military Commander General George S. Patton.

Committed to serving Southwest Detroiters, Patton Recreation Center requires a valid membership for participation in its diverse range of programs and activities. From fitness classes to community events, the center offers something for everyone, with additional fees applicable for certain specialized programs. Embracing a philosophy of inclusivity and community engagement, Patton Recreation Center stands as a beacon of recreation and leisure for residents of all ages and backgrounds.

With a rich history and a focus on providing top-notch amenities, Patton Recreation Center continues to be a hub of activity and connection for the local community. From hosting classic holiday family films to offering a variety of programs throughout the year, the center remains dedicated to promoting health, wellness, and social interaction among its members.
