Project Fighting Chance is more than a national championship amateur boxing organization; it is a caring afterschool relationship for children and youth in San Bernardino, CA. Founded in 1999, the organization serves inner-city and surrounding area youth ages 8 – 18, providing afterschool programs Monday – Friday. With a mission to function as a viable safe space and trauma resilience support system, Project Fighting Chance aims to assist youth in becoming positive contributing members of the community.

Led by a dedicated team including founder and President Ian Franklin, Chairperson & CAO Laquetta Bush-Simmons, Executive Director & 1st Vice President Terry Boykins, 2nd Vice President Rory “Guitar” Gandy, and Jatori “Moxxy Man” Harris, Project Fighting Chance focuses on prevention & early intervention, offering mentorship and community support to at-risk youth. The organization’s vision is to expand into a multi-location high-quality afterschool enrichment program, emphasizing boxing techniques and the arts to develop the whole child and reduce childhood violence, aggression, and trauma.

Located at the Ruben Campos Community Center at Nunez Park, Project Fighting Chance is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for youth to thrive. Through their dedication to empowering young individuals and fostering resilience, the organization continues to make a positive impact on the lives of those they serve, striving to knockout childhood food insecurity and create a brighter future for the next generation.
