Detailed Information

Sam Viersen Gymnastics Center underwent a significant transformation in 2010, solidifying its position as one of the nation’s top collegiate training facilities for Oklahoma Gymnastics. The renovation project, funded entirely by private donations, included a complete overhaul of the existing gym, locker rooms, sports medicine training rooms, and awards recognition room. The addition of a new storage area, reconfiguration of foam and resi pits, and an outdoor patio further enhanced the facility, along with the addition of parking on the North end. The commitment to excellence is evident in the dedication to providing a top-notch experience for student-athletes.

The facility also boasts a state-of-the-art team conference room named after legendary Oklahoma women’s gymnastics coach Becky Switzer. This innovative space is equipped with modern amenities such as a plasma TV, wood floors, custom cabinetry, gymnastics artwork, and computer workstations, fostering team unity through meetings, video review sessions, and team-building activities. The Viersen Family Foundation’s continued support highlights the dedication to enhancing competitiveness and attracting top student-athletes to the program, as acknowledged by OU men’s gymnastics head coach Mark Williams.

Located just north of the Lloyd Noble Center, the Sam Viersen Gymnastics Center stands out as one of the few freestanding, co-ed college gyms in the country. With a rich history of success and a commitment to providing a premier training environment, the center welcomes fans to witness practices and experience the passion and dedication that define Oklahoma Gymnastics. The facility’s emphasis on excellence, innovation, and community support sets it apart as a leading institution in collegiate gymnastics training.
