Detailed Information

The St. Lucie Sheriff’s PAL is a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding public awareness about the role of law enforcement officers and instilling responsible values and attitudes in youth. Their mission is to “fill playgrounds, not prisons” by providing a positive and nurturing environment for local youth to develop academically, athletically, socially, and artistically. Since 1995, PAL has been offering a variety of programs, including basketball, football, dance, drama, cheerleading, track & field, karate, and boxing, with a focus on at-risk youth in St. Lucie County.

As a registered non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and a charter member of the National Association of Police Athletic Leagues, St. Lucie Sheriff’s PAL is recognized as a leading juvenile crime prevention program in the nation. The organization is open to children and youth ages 5 to 18, offering various team and individual sports and activities run by dedicated volunteers who donate their time to coach and mentor. With thorough background checks on all volunteers, PAL ensures a safe and supportive environment for its members, 80% of whom come from low-income households.

By providing a strong support system and opportunities for mentorship, St. Lucie Sheriff’s PAL plays a crucial role in helping to lower crime rates and positively impact the future of children in the community. With a commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, PAL charges a $50 membership fee but ensures that no child is turned away based on family income, social background, or past involvement with the law. Through their programs and dedicated volunteers, PAL continues to make a difference in the lives of young people in St. Lucie County.
