With a focus on outstanding healthcare services, training future healthcare providers, and conducting vital medical research, VA Employee Fitness Center serves a significant number of unique Veterans and outpatient visits annually in Oregon and Southwest Washington. The center offers a full continuum of care, including inpatient, outpatient, long-term, and emergent services, and hosts several national-level Centers of Excellence focusing on various research areas such as mental illness, Parkinson’s, epilepsy, and auditory research.
Committed to advancing healthcare for Veterans and the nation, VA Employee Fitness Center collaborates closely with Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) through academic partnerships, shared research endeavors, and training of healthcare professionals. The center boasts a team of over 150 investigators conducting more than 500 active studies in diverse research areas, utilizing state-of-the-art facilities spanning 98,000 square feet of wet and dry lab space. With a strong emphasis on education, VA Employee Fitness Center serves as a teaching hospital, providing comprehensive training programs for over 1,200 university residents, interns, and students annually in various medical and surgical specialties.
