With a focus on enhancing student success, the center offers a wide range of activities that promote wellness in various aspects of life, including physical, emotional, social, and community well-being. Through collaboration with campus partners and transparent communication, Wellness and Recreation Center aims to empower individuals to thrive and develop the skills needed for academic and personal growth.

Founded in 1923 as the Department of Physical Education and Athletics, the center has evolved over the years to meet the changing fitness and recreational needs of the NC State community. In 2018, it was renamed NC State Wellness and Recreation to better align with its mission and values. The center’s commitment to inclusion is evident through its provision of resources and support for individuals with disabilities, ensuring that everyone can participate in recreational activities together. By offering premier programs and facilities, Wellness and Recreation Center strives to inspire a culture of wellness and active lifestyles among students and staff.

From rejuvenating yoga sessions to outdoor pursuits, Wellness and Recreation Center on Centennial Campus provides a holistic approach to well-being. By focusing on the six elements of wellness – purpose, financial, physical, emotional, social, and community – the center encourages movement and behaviors that improve health and overall quality of life. Through newsletters, events, and programs, the center keeps the Wolfpack community informed and engaged, fostering a thriving environment where individuals can explore, grow, and achieve their wellness goals.
